At the end of the day...ask yourself, what decisions really matter? It's the end of the year, which brings out the reflective nature in humans. As one year draws to a close, another begins. A series of questions begins to roll out from all places. What went well this year? What are the best memories? What things need to change? What could you do differently? Through travel, the year provides a number of opportunities for reflection before the year ends. Stepping away from the day-to-day life asks for consistent evaluation and reevaluation of the choices that are made on a daily basis. When you take time to observe the world around you, and you get an opportunity to see the world in a variety of ways. Which leaves the most important question for the end of the year. What really matters in a lifetime? It's a question that is unique to every individual. It requires some introspection and a willingness to be open to what you really value and want most in this life. Sure, there are so many things you can want and have. New items flood our markets every day. The latest and greatest fads and trends come and go. But what are the things that really matter? For us, it's memories. Memories of family and friends. Memories of time well spent on experiencing the most the world has to offer. Carpe Diem. Seize the day. And then do everything we can to teach others to do the same. Because the reality is, you can spend all of your money on things, and maybe that makes you happy. But we want you to experience happiness that lasts. We want you to be able to look back and life knowing you were able to spend your time with those you care about. We want you to be able to meet people in the world that are willing to share their experiences with you, their own life stories, so that you can see that your life is a story unfolding every day, in every moment. It's a story worth reading and rereading over and over again. So, as the year begins to draw to a close, take time to really reflect on the things that matter. Let go of the things in this world and grab hold of experiences and memories that will last you a lifetime. Make a list. Write it down. Then make a plan. 2024 is waiting. It's going to be incredible. Get ready to make the most of it. Check out some of our favorite videos below. These continue to drive our decisions to travel and teach so that you can find what matters to you as well.

If money wasn't an issue, what would be your dream Christmas/December Holiday Destination? Check out budget friendly ways to walk through the holidays in the links below! What you see is not always what you get...When traveling, you tend to see a picture of some place incredible and think "I want to be there." A serene mountainside, a quiet lake, a pool on the end of a cliff. Picture after picture shows you incredible views that leave you with a longing to go. And you can't wait. You make your plans, back your bags, and decide to go. You're going to have a piece of that peaceful spot in the world. You're going to take pictures and they're all going to be perfect. You'll be able to look back and reflect on the luxurious time you had. Great expectations. But is it the reality? The one where it was cold and windy, to sweaty, to chilly, all in the same hour. Hair a mess, clothes a mess. Yep, there are those moments. Or the one where it rained all day. It was cold and wet and there was just no getting a break from it. Those were some great pictures. And the random ones. The ones you would never post because you don't like the way your face looks or your hair or whatever it is that you're looking at. So many of those pictures are in albums. Pictures no one would see because we only post our expectations. It's slightly misleading. We live our lives in expectations. And as we make our way through December towards the new year, it's really a good time to stop and reflect on them. As we approach four years post COVID, and a world that has started again, it's really the time to look at our expectations. What are your expectation? Who do you have expectations of? Family? Friends? Co-workers? Students? And what expectations do you have on yourself? Change is the only constant in this world. And if we don't expect ourselves to change over the course of time, we are limiting ourselves to growing and learning. However, just as you are changing, so are others. And if we don't shift our expectations of others and ourselves, we simply become constantly disappointed. We tend to live only in the perfect pictures. We only see the things that we want to see. And we miss out on the reality that, well, everything just isn't perfect. We're not suggesting lowering your expectations. That comes out a lot when people are asked to reflect on expectations. The thought is you should just lower them so you aren't disappointed. That's neither helpful nor productive. Instead, start with you. This December, start with the expectations you have for yourself and embrace the reality you live in. Every picture doesn't have to be perfect. Every day doesn't have to be perfect. In fact, a lot of the days may be less than perfect. That's ok. The pictures in between the imperfect one tell the story of the reality. The everyday. The moments that are still amazing, and wonderful, and good. Even if they don't meet an expectation of the perfect picture. When we travel, we hold a lot of expectations for both ourselves and others. We have expectations to make certain times, have what we need, and be prepared for our travels. And then we adjust. We embrace the reality that we are really not in control of every minute of every day. We cannot change the outcomes of situations that come before us. We can't change the weather, or a delayed train, or any of the other million things that could happen. If we hold the expectation that every trip and every moment will be picture perfect and the experience of a lifetime....
We'd be constantly disappointed. Because that's not the reality. That's not the reality of life. Every day holds the promise of great expectations being met, while other expectations are left unmet. We adjust. We regroup. We reset. So start off December by embracing the reality. It may be tough. It may not be exactly what you want. It may be a picture you want to delete (or hide in a box in the back of the closet for those of you that use to do that) But embrace it. See the reality. And set your expectation of starting 2024 off right. We're setting our expectations high for you. You've got this. There's an incredible picture waiting for you. Dear Teachers....it's been a year hasn't it?There's something about sunrises. The dawn of a new day brings the hope of all possibilities. All things are made new, allowing us to get up and explore what the world has to offer. When traveling, sunrises can be incredible sights to see. Remote locations across the world offer incredible views of the world awakening. Light creeps through the darkness and touches the corners of the earth, illuminating space that a moment ago simply could not be seen. These moments can be magical and unforgettable. Yet, you also do not need to go far to capture the sunrise. In your everyday life, there are magical moments that occur when you capture the breaking of daylight. Seemingly trivial, day to day life becomes touched by the colors painted across the sky. Each one captured provides a different canvas of light. There is a catch. There's always a catch. In order to see the sunrise, you must walk through the dark. Cold, sleepy-eyed, why did I get out of bed mornings, darkness. Darkness which feels overwhelming and bitter, especially during December as the days continue to shorten. Darkness in which you do not want to walk through. Darkness that feels like it just won't ever be light again. Teachers, we see you. As December begins, we are shifting gears slightly to focus on our fellow educators. These dark days of December are cold and sometimes difficult to get through. The holidays are magical, yet classrooms can sometimes feel far from that. The days can drag on, and it can feel as though getting through to the end until break will never come. And as education continues to struggle under the weight of darkness post pandemic, it may feel as though the light simply cannot shine through. Yet it will. December will close out another start to a school year, and the New Year will come. The days of possibility and change are there, waiting in the corners. We know it will come. We know the days will go on. There is light waiting on the horizon, ready to paint incredible pictures we have never yet before seen. Yet sometimes we need help in the waiting. And we know this. So for the month of December we are going to shift gears and use writing to bring light in the darkness. We will still post the places we go and the things we have seen. Yet, writing will connect them to ways we can look towards the sunrise coming in January. We hope to walk through difficult days and find magical moments. We wait on the edge of the darkness with you, watching for the moments in which light will begin to illuminate places we may never have seen before. So we get ready to welcome December, as the month of November comes to a close. We will embrace the darkness of December, knowing that the sunrise is about to come. The light is going to come. We are ready to walk with you, through the tough times and the magical moments, until we land at the perfect spot for the sunrise of a new year. And it's going to be incredible.
