To Marco

This poem is for a dear friend of mine who commited suicided. If you are depressed or suicidal, please get help, you can call the suicde prevention hotline at 1-800-273-8255.

Tell me friend, did you lose all hope?

Is that why your bloody hand reached for the rope?

Was there anything we could’ve done

Or had the demons in your head already won?

On that night, when you got home

Had the certainty sunk down to your bone?

There wasn’t enough love for us to give

So you’d still have a will to live

When she found you, your mother cried

Your little brother on the inside, he died

Perhaps if I’d done more

Hadn’t be such a bore

My dearest friend, we miss you

I’m sorry no one said it before you left but we love you too
