Oceanic Distress

I am drowning in you
You are a sea of words I wish I could swim in
But each wave smashes me harder into the sea floor and
I’m not sure how much longer
I’ll be good for
I should probably swim to the beach
Feel the sand beneath my feet
But darling I’m so attracted to things that kill me
No matter how many of your waves pull me under
I’ll come gasping and laughing at the surface
Waiting for another
And baby I know it might be fun to slam me and watch me
Bounce back
But understand I am lost in your depth and you only care for my buoyancy
